We’ve totted up the scores – 2017's top recruitment trends are about to be revealed!

But first, a little background info. "Do more with less" is pretty much every CEO's favourite thing to say to recruiters. In fact, 56% of recruiters and HR staff reckon they'll be asked to hire more people... with the exact same overstretched team and resources.

So, with a smidge of help from LinkedIn's latest 'Global Recruiting Trends' survey, let's take a look at some of the ways recruiters are speeding things up and adapting to the new candidate mentality in 2017.

1. "I can't let you do that, Dave..."

Just like '2001: A Space Odyssey', AI is set to stage a (not so) hostile takeover.

But, the crazy-eyed scientists creating this technology reckon it will only enhance the human side of recruitment.

Instead of putting recruiters out of business, AI's just gonna make those mundane processes – like finding a specific name – a lot easier.

2. My, oh my! It's all about ROI

In 2017, recruiters will step up attempts to prove ROI of talent acquisition.

It's all about saving those pennies and working out what recruitment tech gives you the most bang for your buck.

But, industry bods have been searching for this lesser-spotted figure for donkey's years. Could this finally be the breakthrough?

3. This time, it's personal!

When "employee experience" is being Googled 140% more than in 2011, you know personalisation's the way to go.

Recruiters and HR are gonna start dealing in wants rather than needs. And, that all starts with the job ad.

Shout from the rooftops about all those lovely benefits, perks and company culture related bits that make people feel a job is gonna fit them like a glove.

4. School's out for summer

2017's all about 'skills over schools' (and, about bloomin' time).

Deloitte – the Optimus Prime of professional services – plan to hire 1,500 shiny new grads without ever letting hiring managers see which uni the candidates went to.

They hope it'll inject some much-needed diversity into their workplace, and show that ability trumps a spot at a fancy uni.

This'll push recruiters out into the hiring wilderness, making them survive by supping from the odd undiscovered talent pool.

5. It'll get hip to job hop

Fine. This one's started already. BUT, 2017 will only see this trend smash through the ceiling.

Recruiters will spend this year trying to get a handle on the gig economy. This looks more like employee renting than hiring, and only the nimblest will survive.

This means getting all loosey-goosey with hiring strategy, keeping tabs on new talent and developing a new-found respect for 'job-hoppers', 'boomerang employees' and the like.

Here's to happy job hunting in 2017

However these trends pan out, 2017's gonna be a fun year for recruiters. Technology just keeps on opening new doors, and is beginning to change how employers and job-hunters think about recruitment. Hold on tight – it's gonna be one helluva ride!
